  • Berkley Symphony Orchestra
    The Berkeley Symphony was founded in 1969 as the Berkeley Promenade Orchestra by Thomas Rarick, a young protege of Sir Adrian Boult, the great English maestro. As its name implies, the group was conceived in the spririt of the London Promenade concerts, which focused mainly on the more familiar and accessible side of the symphonic repertoire. Reflecting the spirit of the late 1960s, the Promenade replaced tuxedos with informal street dress and performed in unusual locations, including the University Art Museum. Located in California.
